For those who are thinking about catching up with us along the way: we are planning a route change starting in Kansas to take us more directly to Michigan, and we hope to save a day or two. Right now we are about a half-day behind our original schedule, and we hope to gain some time. We are all begining to get optomistic about our goal of reaching Detroit in the first week of October.

Here is a sketch of the new route: Colorado 96 continuing as 96 into Kansas. At La Crosse in mid-Kansas, moving to highway 4 then 56, entering Missouri south of Kansas City. From there we still need to research the state bike maps, but we might take US 24 most of the way from Kansas City to Detroit, or roads near that route. We plan to cross the Mississippi at Hannibal, and to go to Fort Wayne for dinner at Shopoff's Steak House early in October.
